Nestled on 30 acres of wooded land in the heart of Williamsburg, Walsingham Academy is a Catholic, coeducational school serving more than 535 students from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. Founded in 1947 by the Sisters of Mercy and built on the traditions of academic excellence, faith, and the development of the whole child, Walsingham focuses on meeting the challenges of discovering and developing student’s gifts to prepare them to be responsible young adults. Our students are encouraged at every stage of their development to achieve personal success and act with integrity and compassion.
On February 21, 2015, Walsingham will hold its 44th Annual Auction & Dinner for the Children at The Williamsburg Hellenic Center. The evening will consist of a cocktail hour, silent auction, seated dinner, and live auction. Funds from the past three auctions helped develop the Academy’s Digital Technology Program, which placed iPads in the hands of each of our students and faculty. This exciting integration of technology in the classrooms has allowed students and teachers to engage in the content of our curriculum in exciting new ways. Proceeds from this year’s event will fund the Academy’s new Arts Curriculum Enhancement Program (ACE) and the campus-wide launch of Trojan Media. The Arts Curriculum Enhancement Program will expand learning opportunities for the arts for students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade including art immersion programs, guest speakers, artist workshops, instrumental, voice, and dance studio time. The campus-wide launch of Trojan Media will expand our Digital Technology platform into multi-media broadcast journalism, including video production, editing, graphic design, reporting, writing, and the use of technology in mass communications.
Walsingham Academy values and celebrates relationships with our broader community, and we hope you will consider participating in our event. If you have any questions, please email us at auction@walsingham.org or call Walsingham’s Event Office at (757) 259-1408. To ensure inclusion in the program, we kindly request that all contributions be submitted by Friday, January 30th at the latest. Thank you in advance for your support.
